Group makes discrimination complaint with NCAA against BYU

Provo • A group has filed a complaint against Brigham Young University for allegedly discriminating against Mormon students who leave the faith.

The Daily Herald in Provo reports that FreeBYU has lodged a complaint with the NCAA claiming the school has expelled student athletes who later changed their faith.

BYU spokesman Todd Hollingshead said in an email Friday that the school remains confident that it is in full compliance.

FreeBYU previously filed similar complaints against the university's regional accreditor and the accreditor of its law school.

The American Bar Association closed a 2015 religious discrimination complaint made against BYU's law school in August.
