BYU to focus more on fundamentals, less on competition as spring football practices open

BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake addresses the team at the conclusion of practice on Monday morning before the Cougars' matchup against Wyoming in the 2016 Poinsettia Bowl.

PROVO — A little more than two months since BYU beat Wyoming in the Poinsettia Bowl to finish with a 9-4 record in coach Kalani Sitake's first season, the Cougars are eager to open spring football practices Monday.

“I think ending the season with a quality, hard-fought win is something that carries a lot of momentum into the offseason,” said assistant head coach Ed Lamb.
