PROVO — Last year at this time, BYU offensive coordinator Ty Detmer had zero experience as a college coach. As part of a new coaching staff, he was beset by unknowns and battling insomnia.
“I was waking up at 4 in the morning and couldn’t get back to sleep because the wheels were turning about what to expect,” Detmer recalled Friday during BYU’s annual media day festivities.
