Doyel: Butler's Kamar Baldwin growing up right before our eyes

INDIANAPOLIS — Kamar Baldwin thought about it and decided: No, he’d never had a game like this. He’d never scored as many as 21 points after being shut out in the first half, as he did Saturday to lead the No. 13 Butler Bulldogs past No. 14 Xavier 83-78 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Butler freshman was still smiling sheepishly when his coach brought the news conference to a standstill.

“You didn’t score in the first half?” Chris Holtmann asked Baldwin.

No.

“Wow,” Holtmann said. Then he leaned over and said something softly into Baldwin’s ear:

“Great job.
