Stephane Sessegnon signs with Montpellier after links to Burnley

Montpellier signed free agent midfielder Stephane Sessegnon to a two-year contract on Tuesday.

Sessegnon, 32, had been linked to a move to Burnley, but instead returns to Ligue 1 for the first time since he left Paris Saint-Germain in 2011.

The Benin international played with PSG for three seasons before joining Sunderland, and after two years moved on to West Brom until his contract expired this past summer.

He will be reunited with Montpellier coach Frederic Hantz, who was in charge of Le Mans in 2006 when Sessegnon joined them as his first club in the top flight.
