Preseason recap: Sabres win 3-2 in OT over Senators

After losing their first preseason game in heartbreaking fashion (if we even have hearts to break in September) the Buffalo Sabres won their second preseason game in thrilling fashion, thanks to a late tying goal and an overtime winner from the blueline.

The game began slowly, with both teams playing it safe and feeling each other (and themsevles - it’s preseason) out for the first 30 minutes. It was a fairly stoic affair, though Tyler Ennis and Zemgus Girgensons were both noticed early and often, which is a good sign for two embattled players.

Things heated up in the second period when Ottawa opened the scoring thanks to a crazy deflection off a point shot that was eventually credited to Buffalo favorite Chris Neil.
