The Buffalo Sabres are wrapping up their bye week, as they will be heading to Colorado to take on the Avalanche this Saturday.
So far, the bye week has treated the Sabres kindly, as the team has barely lost any ground in the wild card chase. With four important games on the schedule Thursday, the Sabres were looking to dodge another round of bullets. By the end of the night’s activity, though, three of those games had resulted in points being added to the competition, pushing the Sabres further out of playoff contention.
The best news of the night came out of Tampa Bay, where the Lightning lost 3-2 to the Calgary Flames and blew a chance to break free of its tie with the Sabres.
