In a move that was not very flashy, but that could pay dividends for the team down the road, the Buffalo Sabres signed left-handed defensive prospect Brycen Martin to an etry-level contract Saturday.

The Sabres selected Martin with the 74th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and had to sign him by June 1; otherwise, Martin would have re-entered the NHL draft.
