Sammy Watkins' option is no-brainer, but Bills' bigger decision looms

Trading up in the 2014 draft to select receiver Sammy Watkins with the fourth overall pick remains the most debatable decision of Doug Whaley's four-year tenure as general manager of the Buffalo Bills.

Watkins is an undeniable talent, but injuries have limited his production: broken ribs in 2014; a hip injury that required surgery during the 2015 offseason; lingering hamstring, calf and ankle injuries in 2015; and most recently, a broken foot last offseason that limited him to eight games in 2016 and impacted his effectiveness. Watkins is currently rehabbing from another surgery on his foot in January.
