2015 NBA Draft: Brooklyn Nets Select SF/PF Chris McCullough

With the 29th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets select Chris McCullough out of Syracuse.

Position: Small Forward/Power Forward

School: Syracuse

Class: Freshman

Measurables: 6’9”, 200 lbs.

Analysis:

McCullough has fantastic NBA-ready height and length that translate well to his chances as a true power forward in the league, and his fluidity in transition and as a leaper makes him a dangerous offensive weapon who has dynamite potential as a slasher to the rim. His confidence in his jump shot is improving rapidly, as he’s already a legit knockdown threat from 17 feet on in. He’ll need to fill out his frame with more muscle and work both on his face-up game and his fundamentals as a rebounder. However, McCullough’s high athletic upside and outstanding motor will help him paper over those deficiencies until he gets more practice reps and does more work in the weight room, provided that the ACL tear he suffered midway through his freshman year doesn’t cause lingering issues.
