It’s hard to overstate what an advantage the Red Sox had Saturday night.
They were playing in front of a packed Fenway Park, riding three weeks of momentum, starting the Cy Young favorite, facing a guy fresh off the disabled list, and going against a Yankees team that had lost three straight against their rivals.
Everything was trending the Red Sox’ direction, until emboldened chants of “Let’s Go Yankees” began to filter through the ballpark.
Two home runs off Chris Sale made all the difference, and this time the Red Sox couldn’t come back in a 4-3 loss to the Yankees.
