In its fourth try, the United States won its first-ever World Baseball Classic this past week, joining Japan and the Dominican Republic on the tournament’s short victory list. There’s plenty of debate about the worthiness and timing of the tournament, with enthusiasm stateside markedly less than in Latin American and Asian countries.
