Regardless, it appears what Hanley Ramirez said last week is different from what he meant.
In a Spanish-language interview with longtime ESPN Deportes reporter Enrique Rojas, Ramirez announced his intention to play this winter for Licey, a team in his native Dominican Republic. But the Red Sox didn’t seem to know anything about it, with manager John Farrell even telling WEEI that he’s unaware of any conversation about Ramirez and winter ball.
Yesterday, a source with knowledge of Ramirez’ plans told the Herald the slugger’s comments were either taken out of context or misinterpreted.
