BALTIMORE -- Before the season opened, Boston Red Sox prospect Sam Travis hoped to follow in the footsteps of his college teammate, young Chicago Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber.
But this wasn't what he had in mind.
Travis will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the Red Sox confirmed Monday. The injury, which will require surgery, is similar to the one suffered by Schwarber, who tore two knee ligaments three games into the season.
