Red Sox not searching for outside relief help immediately

Righty reliever Carson Smith was expected to play a "pivotal" role in the words of Red Sox manager John Farrell, but Smith's Tommy John operaton on Tuesday didn't bring any public commitment from the Red Sox to go outside for bullpen help. Not right away, at least.

"Not yet. Not at this point," president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Tuesday. "We'll continue to go the way we are. People right now are already asking the question, 'What are you looking for in all the trade situations that come up?' But the reality is there's not much of that talk yet.
