The total value of outfielder Chris Young's new and pending deal with the Red Sox is for $13 million, with the dollars distributed evenly between the 2016 and 2017 seasons, according to a source. Young still has to pass a physical with the Red Sox, with the deal expected to be finalized by mid-week or perhaps sooner. Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal was first to report the total value of Young's deal.
Young, 32, provides the Red Sox with the right-handed hitting outfield bat they were looking for, as well as a competent and reliable outfielder who can play all three positions.
