Benintendi sprains knee in baserunning mishap

Boston Red Sox rookie left fielder Andrew Benintendi exited Wednesday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a left knee sprain.

The 22-year-old will have additional tests on the knee Thursday, when the Red Sox are off.

Benintendi was hurt while making an awkward step trying to avoid a tag in the seventh inning. He was replaced by Chris Young.

Benintendi, who was called up earlier this month after rocketing through the minor leagues, is hitting .324 with one home run and 10 RBIs.
