Red Sox RHP Clay Buchholz Not Worried About Trade Rumors

Boston Red Sox RHP Clay Buchholz has been pitching like the ace the team wants/needs him to be as of late, but he's still rumored to be on the trade block with the Red Sox currently residing in last place in the AL East.

“That’s out of my control. I have to go out and pitch,” Buchholz said to CSNNE.com’s Jessica Moran prior to Friday’s game against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park. “I’ve been part of trade talks really early in my career. It’s just one of those things. It’s inevitable, it’s going to happen.”

“Everybody that’s on a big league team knows that if the time comes around and you’re having a good stretch and it’s before the All-Star break or the trade deadline, then there’s probably a good chance that your name is going to be mentioned,” Buchholz added. “There’s nothing I can do with that. It’s definitely out of my control. All I can do is prepare and pitch.”

Buchholz has won his last four starts, giving up just three earned runs over 31 innings while striking out 23 against just three walks. He is 7-6 overall now with a 3.27 ERA in 17 starts.
