BOSTON -- Although both the offense and the pitching struggled in the Boston Red Sox's 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Monday night, team manager John Farrell was quick to primarily place the burden on the latter.

The loss was Boston's fourth straight, dropping them to the cellar of the American League East. And in each defeat, the team has been forced to play from behind early, something Clay Buchholz accomplished Monday by allowing four runs over the first two innings of his outing.
