This picture is from a sad time in Larry Bird's life. It's from after he quit Indiana University and his father committed suicide. According to this great column, Bird as you'd expect simply dominated this AAU tournament. While Bird had considered becoming a construction worker himself, he wisely instead returned to basketball at Indiana State.
