WALTHAM — The new guy on the floor with the Celtics summer-leaguers Friday wasn’t exactly new. Phil Pressey has spent two seasons with the C’s, and while many guys of similar experience won’t be messing with games in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, this 5-foot-11 point guard has points to make.
The Celts have to decide by July 15 whether to keep Pressey and guarantee him $947,276 for next season. As the roster stands now, there is no room for him, but Danny Ainge will wait to make a decision because Pressey could be used in a trade — or a trade that doesn’t involve him could clear some of the backcourt logjam and get him a spot.
