Celtics Rumors: Boston Trying To Trade For #1 Pick

The Boston Celtics are interested in acquiring the #1 pick in Thursday's draft, according to a report from CSN New England.

The Celtics have already engaged the Cleveland Cavaliers in discussions about the pick, and would likely choose either Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker first overall (with a slight edge to Wiggins), according to the report.

The Celtics own the #6 pick and the #17 pick in the draft, and have been active in multiple trade discussions throughout the past month. With All-Star PG Rajon Rondo and most Celtics fans uninterested in a drawn-out rebuilding process, the team is angling to speed things up...and a draft-day trade might be the best way for them to make that happen.

Any deal for the #1 pick would involve multiple other picks going the other way, but the CSN report did not mention specifics.

Boston has been linked with marquee free agents including Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love, and a draft-day trade would be a strong indication that more moves are on the way.
