Celtics News: Brad Stevens says he won't leave Boston for Indiana, other college coaching jobs

Despite being in the early stages of a six-year contract with the Boston Celtics, rumors have surfaced over recent months that head coach Brad Stevens is in line as a major candidate for the next big-name college coaching job that opens up. The latest rumor out there is positioning him as a marquee replacement option for embattled Indiana Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean.

However, Stevens remains steadfast in his assertion that he's planning to remain with the Celtics for the long haul.

"I’ve committed to being here,” Stevens told SB Nation's Paul Flannery before Thursday team practice. “I’ve already left a situation once and that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to choose to do. This is something that as long as they want me to be here, this is what I want to be doing and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. I know it’s all specific to the rumor mills and the discussion of one spot. I think they’ve got a good coach who’s done a helluva job. He doesn’t deserve that speculation."

Of course, Stevens isn't going to indicate interest in a college job like Indiana one way or the other. But, Stevens is attempting to reassure everyone with the Boston Celtics that he's already got the job for him.

“I’m the head coach of the Boston Celtics,” Stevens said. “This is the job. This is where I am. This is what I want to do really well and I’m committed to being as good as I can every single day for the Celtics.”
