Celtics News: Boston assigns rookie James Young to the Maine Red Claws

The Boston Celtics announced on Sunday that they've assigned rookie James Young to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA D-League.

Young, a 6’6” swingman, has appeared in five games for the Red Claws this season and has averaged 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals in 32.0 minutes per game in those contests, while shooting 45.8% (22-of-48) on three-pointers.

Young, who has battled injury this season, is averaging 2.2 points in just 3.5 minutes per game for the Boston Celtics in 2014-15. The decision to assign Young to the Maine Red Claws once again is likely just an attempt to get the rookie some more valuable on-court minutes while he continues to get his health and game back in order.

No decision has been revealed as to whether this is a one-game deal or if Young will be with the Red Claws for an extended period of time.
