3 Burning Questions For The Boston Celtics This Offseason

The Boston Celtics are going through a big rebuilding process, but even after trading away Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green, they clinched a playoff spot this year. With two first round picks in the NBA Draft and a bunch of cap space, Boston’s future looks bright – but that doesn't mean they aren't facing any questions this offseason:

1) Can they bring in a star player?

Boston has accrued an insane number of trade assets with a mass quantity of draft picks and talented young players, and there are rumors that they're trying to make a deal that could land them Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins. However, they also have a plethora of cap space they can use in free agency. While they have the means to bring in two, the Celtics need to get at least one star player who can take this team to the next level.

2) What will Boston's draft strategy be?

Among those large number of assets is two first-round and three second-round picks in this years draft, and considering the fact that their roster is already overflowing with young talent, they may package those picks to move up in the draft. Boston could also keep all of those picks with the hope of improving their odds of finding a star, but expect them to be really busy when the draft rolls around.

3) Who will take the next step?

The biggest thing Boston is counting on this offseason is having their young players improve and become more than specialized role players. Jae Crowder has shown promise as a defensive stopper, Marcus Smart is oozing with potential at both ends of the court, and Tyler Zeller is starting to look like a viable starter. If those three guys can take the next step in their progression, the Celtics should finish in the top half of the Eastern Conference next season.
