2015 NBA Draft: Boston Celtics Select Georgia State SG RJ Hunter

With the 28th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Boston Celtics select RJ Hunter out of Georgia State.

Position: Shooting Guard

School: Georgia State

Class: Junior

Measurables: 6’6”, 185 lbs.

Analysis:

Hunter became America’s darling during Georgia State’s electric first-weekend run in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, and it’s his sweet, repeatable jump shot that raised his draft stock prior to Thursday’s proceedings. While his release isn’t what you would call prototypical, he more than makes up for it in fluidity and nearly limitless range. He projects well as a volume shooting option on a team that lacks dynamic spot-up shooters, and his confidence/basketball IQ combination should bode well for his longevity in the league.
