Northwestern's offensive turnaround has it believing in special season again

Passion and frustration spilled from Northwestern's football locker room less than 48 hours after the Wildcats had absorbed a shocking 9-7 loss to FCS foe Illinois State in early September. It was a Monday morning, and captains Anthony Walker, Matthew Harris, Austin Carr and Connor Mahoney stood at the front to lead a spirited session in which any player could air his grievances.

"If you had something to say, you said something," Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson said.

Northwestern had demonstrated little offensive consistency for a second straight game -- a second consecutive loss at home to open the season.
