Ravens Training Camp: What We Learned This Week

The Baltimore Ravens are knee-deep in training camp right now with the first preseason game of the slate now out of the way. We're here to get you up to speed with the goings-on in camp with 2015 Ravens Training Camp: What We Learned This Week.

Breshad Perriman To Return During The Preseason?

The Ravens' passing game has a lot riding on the health of 26th overall pick and dynamic wideout Breshad Perriman, and it appears that he'll back in the fold before the regular season starts after suffering a knee injury on the first day of training camp.

"He’ll be back some time here in training camp, hopefully soon," coach John Harbaugh said. "I hate that he’s missing it. I hate that he’s not out here. I’ve got a knot in the pit of my stomach in some ways about it. In other ways, I know it’s out of our control and I put it in God’s hands. Let him take care of it. To me, that’s the best strategy right there."

This Is Steve Smith's Last Training Camp

Veteran wide receiver Steve Smith told announced early this past week that 2015 will be his last season as an active NFL player, making it clear that it's time to put his family over his football career.

"I feel like it's time," said Smith, who used the phrase three times during his announcement after Monday's training camp practice. "I'm going to retire after this, go home and be a dad and look back and enjoy things."

The 36-year-old wideout is entering his 15th overall season. He joins Oakland Raiders legend and 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Tim Brown as the only players in NFL history to eclipse 13,000 receiving yards and 4,000 return yards over the span of a career.

I don't want to hold on," Smith said. "Jerry Rice is the best wide receiver to ever play. But I don't believe that chasing whatever it is to chase for four more years would be conducive to my family or be conducive to me. I would be having to give up something. I would be jeopardizing something. I don't know what that it is, and I have no intentions of finding out."
