Darren O'Day's escape, J.J. Hardy's single give O's 2-1 walk-off win over Rays

Preparing for their third different opponent in three days wasn't easy for the Orioles. With Thursday's doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox coming on a scheduled day off sandwiched between series against the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays, the Orioles' advance-scouting department had to work overtime.

The Orioles knew this much — if there was one team struggling offensively than they were, it was the Rays, who came to Camden Yards having lost five straight and hitting just .116 with runners in scoring position during that span.

The depths of those struggles were evident in the ninth inning of a tie game Friday, when right-handed reliever Darren O'Day loaded the bases with no outs, but remarkably worked out of the inning unharmed.
