Duquesne's inquiry to Ball State basketball coach James Whitford — now one of five coaches the Dukes have reportedly pursued — didn't much surprise Cardinals athletic director Mark Sandy.
The fourth-year head coach and long-time Sean Miller assistant now has consecutive 21-win seasons on his resume. So Sandy, now in his second year at Ball State, expected the calls would come Whitford's way eventually.
"I'm not surprised, because James has a great reputation as a coach who develops players," Sandy said.
