BLOOMINGTON – The stars of Indiana’s defense might have played elsewhere, but the foundation for the Hoosiers’ defensive improvement in 2016 was undoubtedly built along their line.
Position coach Mark Hagen and a solid, experienced group of linemen built what turned into the unsung strength of IU’s defensive turnaround.
Over the last seven games of last season, including the bowl defeat, Indiana posted 71 tackles for loss and an astounding 24 sacks. Some of those numbers came from other positions, yes, but the production started with a stout line.
