AUBURN, Ala. – No. 8 Auburn women’s tennis (16-1) defeated No. 5 Texas Tech (7-3), 4-2 to win the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday. The Tigers victory over Texas Tech is the highest ranked win since Auburn defeated No. 1 Georgia, 4-3 in 2007.
“I am so proud of the fight and determination of this team,” Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer said. “I have to give credit to Texas Tech. We have played them several times over the years and this is by their best team. To get four singles wins against this team is incredible.
