Tre Mason Will Enter the NFL Draft

Auburn's star running back Tre Mason will enter the NFL draft. The player officially announced his decision Thursday at a scheduled press conference.

Mason, a junior this past season, rushed for 1816 yards and 23 touchdowns. While the Tigers fell to Florida State in the BCS Championship game, Mason rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown, capping off a year where he finished sixth in voting for the Heisman trophy.

Opinions are split over Mason's NFL potential. While some scouts have him going as early as the second round, there are concerns over his size (5'9) and the possibility that his stats were inflated by Auburn's offensive system. An NFC GM told the NFL Network's Albert Breer that he isn't totally convinced: "He's a solid runner, but my gut is the offense is really the engine that drives the production."
