Auburn Tigers "Hopeful" About WR Duke Williams' Status For The Iron Bowl

In this Auburn football news update, the Auburn Tigers could have dynamic wide receiver D'haquille (Duke) Williams back for Saturday's Iron Bowl matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“We are hoping he will be back this week,” head coach Gus Malzahn said, via Zach Barnett of NBC's College Football Talk. “I am not ready to make that call yet, but we are hopeful.”

Williams suffered a bruised knee and a sprained MCL in the second quarter of Auburn's 41-38 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies on November 8th. He did not play in the team's 34-7 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs the next week, or its 31-7 win over Samford on Saturday.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College transfer leads the team with 38 receptions for 699 yards and five touchdowns. Having the junior back in the lineup could do wonders for an Auburn offense that has scuffled a bit in his absence.
