LITTLE ROCK – After his pitching staff recorded a program-record 463 strikeouts last season, Little Rock baseball assistant coach Mike Silva has been named the program's new recruiting coordinator, head coach Chris Curry announced on Monday.

Silva joined the Trojans in fall 2016 and took over pitching coach duties. Last season, Little Rock's pitchers recorded 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings — ranking third in the Sun Belt and 47th nationally. They also allowed the third-fewest hits in the league at 8.83 per nine innings. The Trojans' ERA also dropped from 6.20 in 2016 to 4.
