Before the Arizona Diamondbacks' Saturday game against the Colorado Rockies, Shelby Miller announced that he'll be having Tommy John surgery.
Miller doesn't know when he will have the procedure, but he expects it to be "as soon as possible."
"If I do it right now with no questions asked ... I'll be throwing bull pens and stuff around spring training time, so I'll be right there with the team," he said.
The right-handed pitcher felt tightness in his elbow, which turned out to be a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament and a flexor strain in his elbow, during his start on Sunday afternoon against the Dodgers.
