Diamondbacks name Dave Magadan hitting coach

Barring another unexpected departure, the Diamondbacks appear to have their coaching staff in place.

The club named Dave Magadan the new hitting coach on Wednesday morning, taking the place of Turner Ward, who unexpectedly left the club earlier this month.

Magadan has worked the past 13 seasons as a hitting coach, the last three coming with the Texas Rangers. He spent four seasons with the San Diego Padres (2003-2006) and six with the Boston Red Sox (2007-2012) before joining the Rangers prior to the 2013 season.

Magadan, 53, played parts of 16 seasons in the majors, finishing his career with a .
