NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – The Diamondbacks might as well have job listings posted online for opportunities in their bullpen. They don’t just have needs in the eighth and ninth innings but, in theory, they could use help in the seventh, could probably use a left-hander and might even need a long reliever.
After trading away two of their late-inning options last season and then watching another depart via free agency, the Diamondbacks, coming off a year in which their bullpen posted an atrocious 4.94 ERA, could use a makeover, and everyone knows it. And new General Manager Mike Hazen says those openings have proved appealing to free-agent relievers.
