PHOENIX -- After another injury struck the D-backs on Tuesday, the club announced on Wednesday that it had recalled infielder Ketel Marte from Triple-A Reno.
The move came in response to shortstop Nick Ahmed being placed on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured right hand. Ahmed was hit in the hand with a pitch by St. Louis pitcher Trevor Rosenthal during the eighth inning of Arizona's 6-5 win on Tuesday.
"Nick Ahmed had a procedure where he had three pins placed into his hand that will stabilize everything and help this healing process," Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said.
