Cardinals Rout Eagles 40-17 To Clinch NFC West

The Arizona Cardinals handled the Philadelphia Eagles with ease Sunday Night cruising to a 40-17 win. The Cardinals are now 12-2 and clinched the NFC West with the win. The Eagles slipped to 6-8 and are a game back of the Washington Redskins in the NFC East.

David Johnson led the way for the Cardinals with a massive game. He carried the ball 29 times for 187 yards and three scores. He also added four catches for 42 yards.

The Eagles turned the ball over four times, while failing to force a single turnover. Sam Bradford and Ryan Mathews both fumbled, while Bradford threw two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six.

Carson Palmer had a solid game, although several drops hurt his numbers. Palmer completed 20 of 32 passes for 274 yards and a TD.

The Eagles hardly played DeMarco Murray, who had just two carries for three yards. Mathews led the way on the ground with 58 yards on 11 carries. Jordan Matthews had the best game of any wide receiver, catching eight passes for 159 yards and a TD. Bradford finished the game with 28 of 41 passing for 361 yards, two scores and two picks.

The Cardinals never trailed in the game, although the Eagles did briefly tie things at 10 mid-way through the second. It was all Cardinals after that, as they rattled off 27 unanswered to the game out of reach early in the fourth.

The Cardinals can clinch a bye when they host the Green Bay Packers next week. The Eagles can jump right back into the heart of the NFC East playoff race when they host the Redskins Saturday.
