Arizona Cardinals News - Starting RT competition is between former college teammates

In today's Arizona Cardinals news update, the starting right tackle job for the team is still up in the air as OTAs hit their second week. The favorites, however, are former college teammates.

Bradley Sowell and Bobby Massie played together at Ole Miss, and are now competing against each other for the chance to start for the Cardinals in 2014. The key to the competition between the former college buddies? Consistency.

"Be consistent," Sowell stated, via Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. "I show signs of being a really good tackle and there's signs of ‘Where'd that come from?' If I can ever hone in and be a consistent player and stop making some dumb mistakes technique wise, I think I'll be a really good tackle."

Currently, head coach Bruce Arians plans to split first-team reps between the two. While that may drive a wedge between some people, Sowell says that's not the case with him and Massie.

"It's a friendly competition," Sowell said. "We know that we both got to do our best to win the job. We've been friends for a while."

"We don't hate each other. We know the coaches are going to make the decision."
