BOONE, N.C. — A little over one year after the Mountaineers upset No. 24 Duke in Boone en route to the program’s first national ranking, Appalachian State University wrestling will once again battle the Blue Devils, this time in Raleigh, for a non-conference showdown.
The 18th-ranked Mountaineers (9-2, 4-0 Southern Conference) are coming off two big home wins, picking up a 23-10 win over Clarion before remaining undefeated in league action by downing The Citadel, 34-15.
Individually, freshman Colby Smith continues to shine and was recognized by the league as the SoCon Wrestler of the Week after his performance last week.
