Cold-Shooting Second Half Dooms Men’s Hoops

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men’s basketball shot just 3-for-21 in the second half and fell late to Western Carolina, 58-53, on Saturday afternoon inside the Holmes Center.

The Mountaineers (2-5) pulled to within one point at 54-53 with 23 seconds left in the game, but wouldn’t be able to take the lead as the Catamounts (3-5) made four free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Leading the Black and Gold offensively for the afternoon as the lone double-digit scorer was sophomore Ronshad Shabazz, who finished with 17 points, including 9-for-12 from the charity stripe.
