Former Alabama quarterback named starter at Nevada

Former Alabama quarterback David Cornwell has been named the starter for the Nevada Wolf Pack entering fall camp. Cornwell, who transferred to Nevada this off-season, will still compete with redshirt junior Ty Gangi, who served as the team’s starter during four games in 2016, during camp.

Still, the former Tide backup sits atop the depth chart with a month left until the regular season and unless “there’s reason for him not to be,” head coach Jay Norvell doesn’t anticipate making a change.

“David fits those qualities and demonstrated those strengths the best out of all of our quarterbacks in the spring, and that’s why he was the starting quarterback,” Norvell said at the Mountain West Media Summit.
