There wasn't a meeting to discuss Minkah Fitzpatrick's new position.

It wasn't a case of bumping into a coach in the hallway to get the news. It wasn't quite that official.

"There was the depth chart in our film room," Fitzpatrick said Thursday, "and it was 2-9 was at corner. That was it."

With that, Alabama's versatile defensive back made another shift to start spring practice this week. In his first two years, Fitzpatrick was a cornerback, the Star in nickel formations and then a safety when Eddie Jackson's broken leg created an opening in November.
