Alabama football names new offensive assistant

Alabama promoted another offensive analyst to a full-time job Monday morning.

The school announced Mike Locksley would be moving to one of the nine assistant coaching positions. The news release didn't specify which offensive coaching job Locksley would be taking, but it would appear he's replacing Oregon-bound tight ends/offensive line back Mario Cristobal.

Locksley came to Tuscaloosa last season after being Maryland's offensive coordinator (2012-15) and interim head coach for five games in 2015. Before that, he was New Mexico's head coach from 2009-11.

"He is an outstanding offensive mind who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as both a head coach and offensive coordinator," Nick Saban said.
