High 'Tide High Five -- 'Bama Makes It Five Straight Over Vols

The biggest look-ahead game in the history of the Third Saturday in October started to resemble what many Alabama-Tennessee games have been in the past-- a sloppy field goal festival.

Tied 6-6 at the half, it appeared Tennessee was going to prove this historic series could not care less about point-spreads, BCS rankings, or undefeated records.  In the end, however, Alabama proved one aspect of the historical rivalry true by continuing its winning streak.

The series has been one of streaks since 1971 and the 'Tide kept their most recent streak going tonight by winning number five in a row over the Vols.

Tennessee never earned another first down after halftime.  There was a fourth down stop by the 'Bama defense early in the third quarter when Alabama had taken a 13-6 lead. Then later in the third, Tennessee decided to run the ball on 3rd-and-1.  After the Tauren Poole carry, it was 4th-and-3.

The Alabama fans were chanting L-S-U with less than a minute remaining in the game. LSU is always a big game in Tuscaloosa, but who would have ever thought they'd see the day that Alabama would be flat versus the hated Vols because a bigger game was on the horizon?

The Vols have tumbled a significant distance from the peaks of Rocky Top.  Good ol' Rocky Top has been reduced to just plain ol' rocky.

OH MY GOSH! As I type, Michigan State just completed the greatest hail mary play EVER!

Who cares what else I have to say about Alabama's 31-point victory over Tennessee?  I don't.

"My heart's racing," said Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio. That line alone deserves a vote for coach of the year.

My heart's racing.  Heh. I'm going to shake my head and go to bed.  My heart's racing. Coach, you so crazy!
