Alabama Football Recruiting Roundup: How Do LSU's Recent Hires Affect Alabama Going Forward?

Nick Saban hasn't been shy about going after top prospects from the state of Texas...and another five-star player from the Lone Star state got an offer from Alabama this week. We've also got some analysis of two recent LSU hires...and why Alabama fans don't need to worry about them in the immediate future. Let's get right to it:

Greg Little

The #1 player in the class of 2016 was going to get an Alabama offer sooner or later, and it's now confirmed. Little is a 6'5, 282 lb offensive tackle from Allen, TX, and while he's committed to Texas A&M, it sounds like the battle for his signature is just getting started.

Les Miles Isn't Going Anywhere

Miles made two key hires, and both could influence the battle for southern recruiting supremacy. His first move, hiring Alabama LBs coach Kevin Steele as his defensive coordinator, takes a very good recruiter away from Alabama. The second - hiring former USC interim HC Ed Orgeron - gives him one of the nation's best recruiters.

Neither move will influence the 2015 class - it's a little late in the game for that, and no current Alabama pledges are wavering. This will have a long-term effect, though, and we wouldn't be at all surprised if the Tigers emerge as Alabama's main recruiting rival over the next few years.
