Alabama Football Recruiting: Four-Star QB Picked Tide "To Compete"

Four-star dual threat quarterback Jalen Hurts (Channelview, TX) committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide over the weekend, and spoke with Barton Simmons of 247sports about his commitment:

“I like the way they do things,” Hurts said. “The school is a great school. They have a good academic and athletic program. Coach (Nick) Saban wants you to be a successful man in life, and that’s my main goal in life. I’m going to take his word. I just wanted to go somewhere where I was wanted. I thought I fit in at Alabama. If you’re going to go to Alabama you’re going to compete.

“Every year at Alabama, everybody has opportunity to start. You have to go in and compete and show them what you’re made of. Whatever happens, happens.”

The 6'2", 208-pounder is rated the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 278 overall player in the nation for the 2016 class. Hurts threw for 2,545 yards and 21 touchdowns, and ran for 951 yards and another 19 scores.
