AKRON, Ohio – The No. 16 Akron Zips are tied for eighth place after the first day of competition at the 2017 Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships on Friday at the Louis and Freda Stile Athletics Field House.
The Zips fired a 2286 to tie with Mississippi in the smallbore competition. Defending national champion and defending GARC champion West Virginia won the team smallbore championship with a score of 2341, 30 points better than No. 12 Army who fired a 2311. Kentucky was third (2306), followed by NC State (2304).
